So I bought a MacBook air from someone with intent on fixing it. I get home to charge it and it doesn’t( that i knew already) so i started trouble shooting and i figured that it was the battery so i bought replacement and that didn’t solve the problem! I can get it to charge but only if I unplug the battery and plug up the ac adapter wait for the computer to start booting and then plug up the battery!? and this method works on both batteries old and new. What is the issue I’ve never seen this before?!!!

I had this model in yesterday with the same issue. I replace the I/O board and fixed it: MacBook Air 13" Mid 2012 I/O Board Replacement MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2012) I/O Board

Try to reset the SMC and PRAM
