My son’s laptop suddenly started having problems with no obvious physical damage. The keyboard had no keys working and it will only boot up when put in a tent position at greater than 180 degrees. It will work by touch screen then but not the keyboard. When you bring the screen to about 190 degrees it will shut down every time so you can not lay it flat and extended. It is out of warranty by a few months and Lenovo will not take it back for a paid repair. Any thoughts on what is causing the problem or how to trouble shoot it? I am comfortable with desktops no so much here but do not have a good alternative.
Thanks for the suggestions but I figured it was the keyboard, so I removed it. I went ahead and followed a link to a lenovo service site, https://www.lenovoservicetraining.com/sh… , which was for a flex 15 but close enough. I removed the back and the three screws holding the keyboard in, 2 are obvious but one was hidden under a ribbon cable to the usb ports. I pushed on the board and it popped out, used a plastic tool to get it out fully as per the video. When I removed the keyboard, put the back in place, attached the battery and usb keyboard and mouse it booted up fine. I just have to order a replacement keyboard probably directly from china as its much cheaper, just takes longer. Hope this helps someone else.

Hi Fred Have you checked that there are any suitable options in Control Panel >Power Options> Change Plan Settings > Change advanced power Settings > Power Buttons and Lid You don’t say what OS you are using but there is also an updated (select your OS version) Lenovo Energy Management driver for Win 10 (dated 11.17.2015) plus on the same page is a run diagnostics program which checks out hardware and software problems. Hopefully this may be of some help. Apologies if you have been here. http://support.lenovo.com/au/en/products…
