I removed my cooling of the laptop to get rid of the ants crawling in at that very moment I guess the thermal paste got spilled around when fixing the cooling pipes back and after that I turned my laptop on , after few minutes it turns off and then again same thing kept happening for a while and the then suddenly the laptop stopped turning on I plugged the adapter and tried everything to turn it on nothing worked I took it to a local service shop they said mother board is dead might have to replace and that would almost cost half the price of the laptop. I wanted to know if the thermal paste spilled cause the motherboard to die or can it still be fixed or the only option is to replace the motherboard ?
Clean up all the thermal paste, including re doing the processor. Too much thermal paste can be as bad as too little. Its purpose is to help heat conduction by filling minute crevices on the CPU top surface and the lower surface of the heat sink.
