hey y’all! i bought this on Ebay recently and while the listing did mention the dent/drop, it also claimed full functionality… as it stands now, the headphone jack is unusable bc headphone cables won’t fit into the port
The seller does offer returns but I’d rather just try and fix it if possible, would it be worth it try and bend the metal back out of the way of the port? maybe some very shallow drilling at the tip of the port?
Given what I have been told, your best bet would be to drill with a similarly sized drill bit. Go really slow and only drill enough to get the metal out of the way of the port.
Ouch! The case is quite damaged (bottom cover too) as well as the lid frame as well. If you got the system for real cheap then it might be fixable but not like new nice and pristine! You may need a new MacBook 12" Retina (Early 2015-2017) Audio Board and before you do any metal work make sure you’ve disassembled as much as you can and protect the electronics for the metal filings.
