I have accidentally separated the keyboard Zif connector on my HP 15-n230sa laptop from the main board. Didn’t realise the tab was on the opposite side of the connector and stupidly prised it off the board. Please would you mind taking a look at the pictures and tell me whether this can be rectified? Is there anyway to reseat it back on the board?
Thanks in advance!
You are very lucky! The solder pads didn’t get damaged so it should be possible to re-solder the connector back down. Now the tricky part! To do this right you need a re-work system which uses hot air. Your best bet is to find someone local to you with the needed tools to remount it.
go to hit shows on utube, the fellow speaks mostly indian, but if you watch he cuts plastic to fit over the end of the ribbon and a small piece for tension on the underside and heats them and then inserts them and they hold solid.
