Hey I have got a problem. I was using my MacBook Pro Retina 13” Early 2015 as usually and then I closed the lid and connected the charger. When the notebook was charged, I opened it and it was a window to enter the password. The keyboard stopped working (except power on/off button), but the trackpad works great. I tried to connect external usb keyboard (window’s one) and do SMC and PRAM reset, but I think it doesn’t work with that keyboard. I tried about 50 times. I even did PRAM reset using terminal. I can’t go to the recovery or safe mode. Please, help me!
Because your power on/off button still works, but the rest of your keyboard doesn’t, I’m inclined to believe there is an issue in your trackpad(which has the logic board that runs the keyboard) or keyboard ribbon cable. Thankfully, these aren’t super expensive fixes. Connecting an external keyboard may give you the change to run an Internet Diagnostic. If you want to Option Boot, I believe on a Windows keyboard the “Alt” key is the Mac “Option” key. Turn off your computer, then press and hold the “D” key while re-booting. If your MacBook is reporting a problem, you’ll find it that way. You’ll receive a reference code which you can lookup on Apple’s website. However, I have found that many hardware issues are not reported. Unfortunately, I think you may need to take a trip to an Apple Store or Apple repair shop.
Seems many have this issue. Me too. But I got to find my issue to be a glitchy connection of the trackpad cable. So I have now added extra padding to the shield to make it firmly pressed towards the motherboard. And keyboard and trackpad is working once again. So basically follow this guide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzcBL1NB… See the shield in the middle of the motherboard, That is the one that needs extra padding to press down (or up when you turn the computer around).
