Chosen Solution
I want to buy a brand new OEM Keyboard only, I don’t need the $299.95 upper case, thats ridiculous, so if I can at least get an OEM keyboard thats great. so I was looking and there is no listing for a brand new keyboard for model A1297 with out upper case, its a 17 inch Macbook Pro Unibody. I figure an after market is fine as long as its a good product. Someone please advise, thanks, ~Joe
I use an electric screwdriver to get the about 68 screws out. It takes me about an hour to do one of these. Check to see if you need one with a backlight. Do a search on eBay for keyboard & A1297 and check the “new” box. Here’s one I found: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Apple-MacBoo…
There’s a reason no one has keyboards. (IMO unless you’re masochistic you don’t really want to do an keyboard only replacement). Time is money - spend some of the former to save the latter and a lot of aggravation. If this answer is acceptable please remember to return and mark it.
