While changing my hard drive, my hand accidentally touched the keyboard ribbon connector cable on the logic board and the locking mechanism broke. The connector is intact just the locking bar broke off and the laptop is now unable to power up. :( I need help figuring out what to do. I wanna avoid buying a new logic board. and yeah the cable seems fine with no dents or marks
I suppose you’re talking about a unibody MB here. This is a very dire situation indeed. You can try to place the cable in the socket and secure it with tape or similar. Take something that doesn’t melt at 60 degree, it can get hot in a laptop. Good luck!
Hi Lexzahir, Sorry I am late to your repair but am posting this, hopefully to assist others with the same problem. Im not familiar with Apple products in general, but by your description, it sounds like it may be similar to a connector problem I had on a Sony laptop keyboard connector. I had snapped off the little plastic tab latch that holds in the keyboard ribbon cable on a laptop, and found an easy way to fix it. The same problem can occur on may different devices, such as CD players, laptop keyboard connectors, camera ribbon cable connectors, etc. If you break off this little tab, the ribbon cable is not held in at all, and just falls out of the connector. On the off chance that you have the same type of problem, check out my YouTube video I had posted last year. Not sure what is wrong with your connector. If it is the same problem, you can easily fix it in a few minutes. Easy Ribbon Cable Connector Fix, Repair. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhaeKdUl…
