Hi all I got mine friends machine today to repair. I replaced the battery of the laptop. But I also saw that the backlight of the keyboard isn’t working well. One of the leds is not working. I tested the other leds with 3v and they are working. The led that is not working, is burnt out. I see a yellow stripe on it. Is it possible to desolder the faulty one and replace it with a new smd led? Thanks
Yes it is possible if you can get the correct LEDs and solder these on, might be best to remove a working one from another used backlight, if you have any. You may need to clean the middle sheet of the backlight as well, so it evenly distributes the light. The whole part cost 6$ though, so in my opinion it would be quicker and easier to replace the whole backlight.
