Recently installed a new battery in my macbook pro retina, early 2015 13” (A1502). Battery installation no problem, macbook boots, charge cable orange/green no problem Apple system report shows battery information, the right voltage, cycle count 1, etc. The macbook works perfectly in all aspects except the keyboard and trackpad no longer work. I do notice that the trackpad no longer clicks either. Not sure if that is software or not After reading the forums, I ordered a replacement trackpad cable. still no response from the keyboard or trackpad. Plug in a wireless keyboard/mouse, and no issues whatsoever. Everything seems to work flawlessly other than no response from the trackpad or keyboard. while the keyboard doesn’t seem to work, ie pressing any key combinations at startup don’t seem to have any impact, I did notice that when I follow the SMC reset instructions, the charge cable turns from orange to green once I release the key combo (as described in many tutorials). So, I’m kind of stuck. I don’t know if this is a software or hardware issue and without a functioning keyboard, I can’t run diagnostics or any other tools. During the battery replacement, I did use adhesive remover but it was literally drops here and there. Any help from the group is appreciated Update (04/25/2020)

Update (04/25/2020) @danj thank you for taking an interest in my problem. There is a latch and it was down. See new image. Is there another latch for this connector?

Update (04/25/2020) Here are the pictures from the main logic board.

So, I finally fixed my laptop. For whatever reason, in the battery replacement, I guess the trackpad was damaged. Once I replaced the trackpad, the trackpad and keyboard starting working immediately. So, swapping battery, buying replacement trackpad cables (twice), did nothing. As soon as I swapped out the trackpad, the laptop has been incredible ever since. Thanks to @danj for all your help.

Well, I think I see your problem! You appear to have lost the ribbon cable latch on the keyboard connector. Here’s what it should look like with the latch down

And here is what it should look like with the latch up

Look around your work area as when it pops off it can travel! Hopefully you’ll find it so you can then carefully snap it back in. Update (04/25/2020) OK, Let’s look at the trackpad connections you’ll need to pop off the cable and take a picture straight down into the logic board connector as well as the cable side so we can check the pins.
