I have a MacBook Air early 2014, worked fine until it dropped from the top compartment of an airplane. It was in a case and the case inside a backpack. The keyboard and track pad stopped responding (aside from power button). They don’t work in recovery mode either. Plugged device work. What I tried : reset PRamReinstall OSXwent into recovery I brought it to Apple and they said it s a problem with the monitor(?) and asked $750 to repair , they suggested I buy a new one. Any idea what part could really be the issue? And if possible to repair it myself? Another thing to note is that the cap lock key light is on all the time. I can’t turn it off. Thanks.

Not sure I follow how the Apple genius would think your issue is the monitor if the keyboard and trackpad don’t work. I’m suspecting your MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013-2017) Trackpad is damaged as its the meeting point of your keyboards connection to then pass onward to the logic board.
