Chosen Solution

Howdy iFixit! I bought this PSP from the thrift store because it was only $30. (Expensive Thrift Stores here haha). It works really well in most cases except for the joy stick. It hardly responds to movement, and the curser/player when you’re using it moves around on its own. If you apply pressure to the PSP in that area, it sort of starts working. From what I’ve researched, the contact from the joystick to the logic board has separated some, so it doesn’t really contact the board that well. That’s what I’ve diagnosed, too. The problem is, however, that I don’t really know how to fix it. Anyone else had this problem before? I think it all happens when the PSP is dropped. :P

TommyJames, this guide might help you out. Step 7 and on tells you what to do when the buttons are not working etc…. UPDATE also, you might check this question. If cleaning it does not work you might have to replace the stick assembly. the part is available here and there are plenty of videos on on youtube.
