its fully charges. stays on for 10 seconds and turns itself off. I tried leaning the filter (a few times) and nothing… help?
This is exactly what happens to mine. My fix takes 30 secs with no tools. Dyson go through 3 instructions then tell you a new battery is needed if nothing works. I find this strange as it works well for 10 secs and then complete cut out. But before you do this, my fix worked on mine 3 times now as the problem occurs every couple of months. Go to charging point unplug it from Mains. Reconnect and put dyson on charge point then press the trigger on the dyson for 15-20 secs. Nothing happens but when I take it off charging point Dyson is back to normal
Hey, I had the same problem (ran for 10 seconds then cut out and wouldn’t run on MAX power at all) and tried everything listed, which was good to do anyway but in the end I ordered a new battery off eBay and it was that!
I did a complete teardown and cleaning, yet the problem persisted. Then I noticed that the motorized floor brush was spinning intermittently, then the main unit would shut down. Seems that the motor separated from the worm gear. I replaced the motor unit-problem solved.
Zog, this is a posting for the ages! A couple of years ago my Dyson stick stopped working, and your advice solved the problem. But by the time the problem re-occurred recently I’d forgotten what to do. Most of the advice on line points to a new battery, but I found your post again, and voila! all working perfectly again. So thanks a lot.
Old thread but I know the answer. My Dyson V8 symptoms were that it would go on/off, qickly for 7 times in a row and then stop altogether. Release the trigger and it would do the same again. Bought a new battery and symptoms stayed the same. Replaced the cone shaped filter in the top and all was as good as new. PS… I also replaced the rear filter just for kicks.
hi. I just wanted to repeat the answer that worked for me..when I return the vac to the charging stand, and ‘click’ it in, it does NOT start charging and the blue light does not turn on. I have to physically and intentionally push the two pieces together, the blue light turns on, it recharges, and works perfectly. Don’t have to do the series of strange steps, and the battery is fine.
It only works for a little while, I had to buy new battery, just wish when it started doing it just a couple of weeks after I got it, I would have contacted Dyson, my daughter did she had the same problem, was just a couple of weeks after she got it, they replaced her battery, free of charge no problem, I know a friend had same problem, they also replaced free of charge, I advise anyone just to contact them as soon as they start having this problem.
