Greetings! The other evening I dropped my first gen iPad pro 12.9, which was in a case, and the upper right hand corner hit the floor. Upon picking it up, I discovered the volume buttons no longer worked. I then tried the power button and it was the same. I then started testing other functionality and found the iSight camera no longer works. The front camera still works without issue. Does this sound like an issue where the cables came loose, or is this probably a situation where the logic board is damaged? Anyone experience something similar? Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Sounds like a component issue to me. In the 12.9” iPad, the logic board runs through the center of the battery, it’s sort of a weird arrangement. But both the button cable (the power button and volume buttons are on the same cable), and the rear camera plug into an extension cable to connect to the actual logic board. You can sort of see from this torn down image what I mean (I tried to find a better picture, but alas…..). It’s definitely possible this popped out or something of that sort in the drop, even though it’s supposed to be held down by a screwed in cowling.
