My iSight cable snapped right in half. The very thin red and green wires are lined up so I think I know the correct way to re-wire it but does anyone have tips on how to solder these super thin wires. I can barly strip them without breaking them.any help would be awesome as a new iSight cable is $50-$80 dollars which I dont have.Thanks.
Well, I would use a small soldering iron with a small tip and a fixture to hold the cable in place as well as a magnifying light. it can be done just have to be patient and prepared. The pinout as well as more information for the insight cable is here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiver… and here http://forums.applecentral.com/ubbthread… The information for the pinout that I got is Pin 1 is the left most (has an chevron pointing to it). LVDS/iSight cable wire color in parenthesis. Pin 1 (dark blue): connects to a pad on a 6 pin footprint for a chip that is not installed Pin 2 (dark blue): connects to a pad on a 6 pin footprint for a chip that is not installed Pin 3 (light blue, white conductor): USB D+ Pin 4 (light blue, purple conductor): USB D- Pin 5/6 (orange): USB VCC (+5VDC) Pin 7/8 (orange): USB GND
can you re-upload the pic to see the pinout of the connector on the motherboard?
