A friend is asking. The screen is AWFUL diagonal lines and a black thing in the middle. Picture attached. I’m wondering if this is a cable problem and might actually be fixable.
? Don’t know how to search for the info I might need. It’s also missing the actual glass Apple logo on the case - looks like it was broken. Could that be part of the issue? Thanks for help. External monitor attached through lighteneing port.. Any help in diagnosing?
The external looks fine. If that was bad, it would show a similar defect or nothing on the screen. The display is set to extend rather then mirror, so that will need to be changed. The internal LCD is broken and needs to be replaced. rMBP screens are best replaced as an assembly since the layers are part of the assembly unless you know how to do it consistently - almost nobody does.
