I am completely new to gaming PCs and my buddy is selling an Alienware M17x R4 for $300. I Noticed it says it has a CPU speed of 2.7 GHZ but for the games I want to play such as pubg and fortnite for my wife, is this enough speed? When I review the specs online it says with turbo it has 3.6. I don’t know if it comes with turbo or if its something I have to buy separately.. Find out more about this computer. This a 2012 laptop. You cannot simply say the computer is “2.7ghz”. If the computer is an Core i3 2.7ghz, the speed is pushing it. If the computer is a Core i5, then maybe. If the computer is a Core i7, find out if there is a “Q” in the model name. To do so, the easiest way is to right-click the “my computer” or “PC” icon, and select “Properties”. This will give you a quick clear glance of what’s in the laptop. Also try to find out what the graphics card is. Nvidia something? AMD something?
Most games will have a minimum and a recommended configuration of what you need. Go to this site and compare what’s in that laptop to what’s needed in ratings it will give you some idea. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/ https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/ the speed in ghz does not really mean that much anymore it depends on what generation the CPU is.
