Hello ifixit community! I am new to repairing and today I dropped my iphone and it slid across a concrete floor. I was wondering if there is anyway to minimize the damage and to cover up some of the scuffs and scratches. I provided an image of the phone. Much appreciated! http://imgur.com/a/rUIiP
@pars , Parsa, The same kits used to polish headlights could be used to get rid of a lot of the scars but probably not the deepest, the kits range from $20-$40 at auto parts and big box stores. You could also consider putting a wrap/skin on it which would clean it right up or perhaps put it in a case. Check the links below for covers/wraps/cases. 1st link is video showing how to wrap phone. Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjtSOpwh… https://dbrand.com/shop/iphone-7-skins https://www.slickwraps.com/devices/phone… http://www.bestbuy.com/site/iphone-cases…
The headlight solution that L Ptaff had suggested will potentially allow you to buff out the scratched plastic on your phone’s narrow antenna lines. However the material on the flat back surface of your device is anodised aluminum. This is a silver metal with a very thin black top layer. Any heavy polishing is likely to strio the black color, revealing the lights bare metal underneath. However, at least if you try the pleasure polish alone, I doubt it would negatively ffect the anodised coat.
