I’m looking at a couple iPod touches for sale, but they have software that locks it to Mercy Health. Is there a way to completely wipe this software myself, or is it a special version of iOS from Apple that leaves it permanently linked?
This config is set on Apple activation servers as part of the business device enrollment, linked to the device serial number or purchase order (in a way also linked to the serial number in the end). There is nothing on the device itself. Unless you contact the business to disenroll these devices, or somehow reprogram the devices’ serial number, there is no way to remove this.
Check if there’s a profile installed under Settings>General
Mercy had an incident where someone bought electronics on business credit and sold them for profit, might check on serial numbers just in case. otherwise, if they were legally obtained, someone with the hospital might be able to help
