Chosen Solution

Hi there, I have an iPhone 5 which won’t charge due to sea water damage; i.e. it is not recognising the Lightning / USB Connector for charging or data transfer… Is there a way to copy the data from the device by removing the internal hard-drive from the device please? i.e. Similar to connecting a 2.5 or 3.5 HDD to a caddy? Thanks and regards, Mark.

Are you trying to get back photos? If you left iCloud on, there is a chance that photos were backed up online. http://www.icloud.com is where you can check. You will need your Apple account/iCloud login to check.

That device does not have a hdd, assuming you are actually talking about the iPhone 5. The storage chip is soldered directly to the motherboard, and removal is very difficult. Even if you could remove it, reading the chip is also very difficult. There are other solutions to remove data though, and it is sometimes possible to fix the whole phone. I hope this helps, but good luck.

It is NOT possible to read anything from it as opposed to other people here have said. You can dump data from it but it is pointless because all the file system data is encrypted. You cannot decipher it so what is the point?
