Hi, My iPhone 6 mother board for charging the battery shorted out, looking for a way to charge the battery externally.

@odie63 sure you can. With the right equipment. There are plenty of boards out there (ebay, alibaba etc.)that will help you with that. I use one to charge the batteries whenever I do a repair. It’s cumbersome to do this in your case since you will have to disassemble your phone quite often and thus may run into issues with that. Consider having it repaired by people that specialize with this type of repair like @refectio etc. This is the board I use and have not had anything explode on me yet:

Simple answer, no! LiOn batteries require a special charge current depending on the temp of the battery. Basically, you can only charge it to the point the battery doesn’t heat up too much. Thats why all LiOn batteries need a special charger logic. You can’t do this manually. All you’ll end up doing is allowing the battery to rupture and then it could explode into a fireball! Lithium Ion Battery Explosion. The blistered batteries you see and the exploding phones is all related to a failed charger logic or a bad battery at that point a useless battery. The only option is take a spare working iPhone and swap the batteries to charge your battery. Or, just fix your phone which I think is the better answer.
