I removed the old battery ribbon and little l shaped pins came with it. There are little pins on the board but the new ribbon will not attach. Is this a problem?
Sounds like you have pulled the grey plastic battery connector off of the board, which has just left the pins soldered on the board (you are supposed to pull the battery ribbon out of the connector, not lift it upwards). If this is the case, the only way to resolve this is to remove the battery connector from a donor board and solder a new one on, which I would not recommend undertaking unless you have the tools and experience. Upload a picture so we can be sure, but it sounds like you will have to send it to a repair centre who carries out logic board repairs.
