To answer your question, the fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank, attached to the tank sending unit assembly. 1.Relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the negative battery cable 2. Remove the fuel tank. CAUTION Observe all applicable safety precautions when working around fuel. Whenever servicing the fuel system, always work in a well ventilated area. Do not allow fuel spray or vapors to come in contact with a spark or open flame. Keep a dry chemical fire extinguisher near the work area. Always keep fuel in a container specifically designed for fuel storage; also, always properly seal fuel containers to avoid the possibility of fire or explosion. 3.Remove any dirt that has accumulated around the sending unit/fuel pump assembly so it will not enter the fuel tank during removal and installation. 4.Remove the attaching screws and remove the sending unit/fuel pump assembly. 5.If necessary, disconnect the electrical connectors and the fuel hose and remove the pump from the sending unit assembly. 6.Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Be sure to install a new seal rubber gasket. The info is easily obtained from here. Of course, do not forget that lack of acceleration, hesitating, and misfiring could all be caused by things like a bad Oxygen sensor, catalytic converter, dirty fuel injectors, dirty mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter. You also need to check the throttle position sensor, Crankshaft position sensor, Knock sensor, and manifold absolute pressure sensor. Do not forget the EGR Valve and the Fuel pressure regulator could be leaking as well ;-) I hope you get it done, just remember to do one thing at a time. Good Luck.
