Hi! I’m looking to purchase the separate VESA parts needed to convert both my late 2015 and my 2019 iMac (27" 5K) from the normal table stand to the VESA mount. I’m well aware that these parts isn’t sold officially but they are available second hand. It seems though that Apple is using different serial numbers on the parts depending on model years, but I still suspect that the actual parts are the same dimensions. What’s unclear is if the hole pattern changed for the VESA mechanism plate and if the VESA tongue groove changed between 2015 and 2019? Can anyone confirm or debunk this? The parts needed for the conversion is: VESA mechanism plateVESA tongueVESA plateScrews for tongue and plate Yes, I’m well aware of how much of the internals of the iMac needs to be removed to be able to do this. I’ve done it before to change the spring mechanism for the stand. Best regards /K
The hinge piece for the VESA mount is the same set of parts for both the 2015 & 2019 systems Its a plate which is screwed into the the back shell case via six screws
Here’s the needed internal kit Mac 27" VESA Backing Plate/Hinge (L15/17/19), Apple P/N 923-00657 The tongue part is different between the 2015 model and the 2019 models, not sure why so you may need to order the 2019 version separately. iMac 27" VESA Tongue (L15), Apple P/N 923-00654 You then need the VESA plate and its screws: iMac 27" VESA Mounting Bracket (12-20), Apple P/N 923-0424iMac 27" VESA Mount Screw Set - Pentalobe (x2) (12-19), Apple P/N 923-0418 That gets you to the point of then needing the VESA stand.
