Is the topcase from a mid 2012 MacBook Pro interchangeable with a 2008-2010 MacBook Pro topcase w/keyboard. It only comes with the keyboard, but I’m not sure if the backlit keyboard and ribbons for the speakers are compatible, thanks I want to transfer a 2008-2010 topcase into a 2012 MacBook Pro, as my 2012 MacBook Pro has a damaged keyboard
If all you need is the aluminium topcase with keyboard, then the answer is yes, but stick to to 2009/2010 Pro series. There’s no 2008/2010 Pro, in 2008 and early 2009 there was just the A1278 Macbook Unibody that is not compatible at all. However, considered the difficulty involved in replacing the superdrive slot which holds different groudings for 2009/2010 and following models, evaluate carefully it it’s worth your while as the part may break in the process. I’d suggest you stick with i5/i7 replacement topcase for a smooth and troublefree work.
