Liquid (milk) damaged iphone 6 had screen and battery replace at repair shop. Everything seemed to be working on phone perfectly but when repairman tried testing my network carrier he said it wasn’t reading my SIM card. Tried different card, powering down, not sure what else. Was told that the liquid messed up something in my phone that won’t allow it to connect to a carrier. That my phone can not be fixed. Makes no sense to me how everything works perfectly even wifi just can’t be used as a phone. In the process of having damaged non working parts put back on phone instead of paying for replacement parts just for phone that now is just “a tablet” now. Can another repairman be able to repair the damaged area that allows phone to find service from SIM card? Really hate to just trash a new iphone6. Help please!!!!

Hi, You should’ve asked him how he cleaned it. If he never used an ultrasonic cleaner, then he hasn’t done a proper job, if he didn’t remove the EMI shields on the logic board, he didn’t do a job at all. I’ve had quite a high success rate of getting phones to work after liquid damage, using an ultrasonic cleaner and removing the EMI shields, as not removing these won’t allow the cleaner to do an effective job. If he used a toothbrush and 99.9% isopropyl alcohol, then he shouldn’t call that cleaning as using that alone is not that effective compared to ultrasonic cleaning. :-)

Honestly, no. But, you can replace the logic board which has the sim card reader, your personal data, and some other stuff attached onto it. It would cost about $350 just for the part! Im really sorry for you! I hope all goes well. Also maybe try going to the apple store just to see what they say.

Quite simply, electronics don’t like liquids. If you are so paranoid about having a perfectly functioning phone which it sounds like you are, avoid the headache at this point and just cough up your insurance deductable or pay for a discounted replacement at Apple and get a brand new iPhone and a waterproof case.
