I am doing a screen replacement on my iphone 5s and i cant get the metal plate of the back of the lcd to put it on the new screen. is the metal plate necessary for the phone to work.
It’s not necessary for the phone to work but it was designed and installed to allow for better thermal regulation. The backlight and the logic board generate a lot of heat and this additional heat sink just keeps the phone operating optimally. Over the long term, removing the heat shield plate will cause some components to fail sooner than their rated or expected lifespans.
