I need to replace a charging port on an iphone 5c (water damage) but i cant find this part cheap! I saw on ebay a few at $100 from USA sellers and $12 from chinesse sellers!! Which one is a real charging port for iphone 5c? I’ve been googling if i can use a charging port of an iphone 5, but nobody is talking about the iphone 5c or 5s reparations! Unless it is about the screen! Any advise?
No. The parts are different. They are visually identical from the port itself to the headphone jack, but the ribbon cable that connects to the logic board and the two pressure contact points are different. Unfortunately this makes the parts non-interchangeable. You can view both parts on the iFixit teardown for the respective devices.
There’s a difference, but it’s possible. If you use iPhone 5 charging port you also need the iPhone 5 homebutton flex, then everything will work ;) I did already 2 iPhone 5c with iPhone 5 charging port.
The two charging ports are different. Start at the end of the flex cable. The iphone 5 has a piece cut out to fit a screw. The iphone 5C is oblong with no piece cut out. Beneath the speaker. (The square silver thing) The two contact points on the 5 are on oposite sides of the cable. The 5C has them both together . Look at the headphone jack on the 5C it protrudes whereas the 5 headphone jack is flush and so won’t fit. Lastly is the screw Tab at the side of the headphone jack. The 5 Tab is right near the front whereas the 5c tab is halfway back. Either way you wouldn’t be able to screw it down and for each you would have a screw tab in the wrong place.
