Hello I would like to upgrade my iMac MID 2015 i5-4690 with an i7-4790K CPU. I can’t tell if the CPU is soldered onto the logic board in that model or not. Can anyone help me? Thanks! Cheers, Andrea
IFIXIT did a teardown of this series iMac Intel 27" Retina 5K Display Teardown If you jump down to Step 8 you’ll see the CPU is socketed. But! Switching out the CPU in this series is limited to what Apple used (i7-6700K) The newer CPU’s used in the newest 27" iMacs (i7-7700, i7-7700K) need a different PCH and the i7-4790k is just not possible.
