I replaced the screen on my iPhone 6+, I did use my original home button, but touch ID no longer works. I see there’s also a ribbon cable running along the back of the metal plate, connecting the home button to the board, which I didn’t keep. All I kept was the original home button. I figure I could keep that ribbon cable by using my old metal plate, which is quite easy, without needing to rip that cable off the metal plate. Is that the key to preserve touch ID? If yes, I’m gonna open my phone one more time and switch back the old metal plate.

The original plate not required to preserve touchid however some bad quality long flex cables stop touchid from working so try transplanting the metal plate over to the new screen it should work as long as nothing got damaged along the way :)
