Solved Is My Power Supply Partially Fried Imac Intel

I have an iMac A2133 that will not power on unless the hard drive power cable is disconnected. With the HD connected i get 1 led lit up and the fans try to work. With the HD disconnected i get all 4 led lit up and the machine chimes and powers up. Is the power supply partially fried or do i have a bad hard drive?

Simple way to check would be to hook up another hard drive to the cable. If it works you have a bad hard drive–if it doesn’t further troubleshooting will be required. Good luck
