Ok the piece the left fan connects to on the logic/mother board broke off. Is that fixable or do I need to just replace the board? First photo is it in place. The second is broken.

Yes, your logic board is repairable! You are very lucky! The solder pads are still present so you might be able to re-solder the connector down. To do this properly you need to clean the old solder off both pads and the connector solder points on the other side. You’ll need solder, solder wick and proper flux as well as a fine point soldering iron. If you’ve never soldered before you may want to practice on a junk board. The quest here is to create the needed electrical connections not big blobs so solder. There is also two points on the other side to help hold the connector down. these are harder to solder as there is often not much to tag with the iron, I personally use a hot air rework station to re-solder these connectors. That uses a fine flow of heated air which can get into tight places. If you think this is too much for you check our list of independent repair shops here: Repair Pro’s I’m sure one near you can help you. This is still a sought after system as its the last system with serviceable RAM and storage! It’s still a great system performance wise!
