My late 2013 model macbook pro has a large crack in the LCD screen, and my brother has a macbook pro from early 2013. I was wondering if it would be able to just switch around the displays? They are both retina display and both are 15”.

Sorry they are not interchangeable. The early 2013” COMPATIBILITY MacBook Pro 15" Retina A1398 Mid 2012 to Early 2013Part #:661-6529, 661-7171 The Late 2013 COMPATIBILITY MacBook Pro 15" Retina A1398 Late 2013 to Mid 2014Part #:661-8310

Sadly, there are a few differences between the two display assemblies. Apple went with a different manufacture for the LCD screen as your systems BIOS (EFI) won’t recognize the display natively, as such, you’ll get a strange display view when using any of the startup keys when booting your system in addition if you use the intergraded graphics engine things will be wanky when switching modes. The antenna cables are a bit shorter in the Late 2013 assembly which in your case wound’t be an issue. Bottom line: I don’t recommend doing this stick with the correct display.
