I have a MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Early 2015 - Battery Model A1582 and the battery is swollen slightly, needless to say I want to remove it and dispose of it as soon as possible, but don’t have access to an adhesive remover (at least in a timely manner) so I will need to slightly heat the cells somehow to release the adhesive. I have read that it is unsafe to heat up swollen batteries, so I wanted to check before proceeding. I was thinking a hair-dryer because that’s what I have available, any thoughts on this?

If there’s still charge it can be very dangerous, for you and your households before your Mac. If there’s no charge you still have chemicals that will release with heat around and inside you. I would personally consider “relatively” safe doing the job at open air with an extinguisher aside only after having removed screen and logic board from the topcase. But I’m sure it wouldn’t be 100% safe either, thus not recommendable. What I would recommend is not to work on batteries with metal tools.
