The screen on my lap top is cracked - is there any way I can replace it myself?
Yes, its possible. First is the cover glass broken and/or the LCD its self? If the LCD is gone the best way is just replace the complete lid assembly. Follow this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2012 Display Replacement. While the assembly is a bit more expensive than the LCD panel alone its a lot less work. If the cover glass is only broken then follow this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2009 LCD Replacement. After disconnecting the battery jump to Step 15. Use caution with the heat gun as you can melt the rubber gasket! All three parts are available: Cover Glass, LCD and the complete lid assembly.
