I would like to fit the ATI Firepro V8800 to my new imac i7 27" 3.4mhz. Possibly housed in a separate box connected with a cable through a hole in the memory cover positioned at the bottom of the display. Can this be done? http://www.amd.com/uk/products/workstati…
I won’t say it can’t be done–almost anything can if throw enough money at it. You would be better off if you need that kind of card to sell your imac and buy a MacPRO. At that you will need to find a way to flash the card to make it work in a Mac. Cards like the Firepro are designed to work in high end Windows machines in my experience. If you decide to try it please keep us in the loop so we can see how it comes out and for what cost. Good luck.
