I’m disassembling a crt tv and I have been led to believe that the tube once discharged will release several toxic gases and I have heard some convincing myths in my day so If there actually is toxic gas in there at what tube size is it considered a dangerous dose?
No gases in CRT’s the electron beam hits the phosphorus coatings on the face of the tube to create an image. The tube is held in a vacuum for this to work in any case any gas in it would ionize causing the whole tube to glow which is not what you want. The tube is wrapped in lead to shield the X-Rays which are being produced as a byproduct and the large copper coils are used to aim the beam to wipe across the screen horizontally to light up the discreet spots taking two passes in about .80 of a second the other .20 is for the beam to find its way back to the top to go again!
