I work at a repair shop, and for a while we have been debating what you should tell a guest after they have their battery replaced as far as battery training. Should they charge it full and drain it empty to train the battery?
@jacobicare battery calibration is important to “maintain accuracy, a smart battery should periodically be calibrated by running the pack down in the device until “Low Battery” appears and then apply a recharge. The full discharge sets the discharge flag and the full charge establishes the charge flag. A linear line forms between these two anchor points that allow SoC estimation.” from this site (disclaimer: I have no personal or business connection to this site;-) which offers possibly the most comprehensive information about anything related to batteries. You’ll learn a lot :-) The short answer to your question. No, it is not. Calibration will provide for longer healthier battery life.
I have thought the same thing, I personally have tested this and i think it does help.. We tell people to let it die first then charge to 100% 2 or 3 times, kind of teach it its lowest and highest point. If you charge to 70% and let it go to 50% and do that heaps then I’ve noticed the battery isn’t as good. This is just from my personal experience
