Hello y’all, So I have this old iPod classic that I picked up and it was working fine, but then weird things started to happen. Every time I would unplug it from the charging chord, it would shut off the moment it tried to play music. It also says that it’s charging, but it doesn’t hold the charge. I know that it needs a new battery, but here’s what’s weird about it. This iPod makes kind of like a “pew” sound when it shuts off or when it crashes. That’s a little suspicious, but what’s even weirder that I have so far had no luck in finding any clues about is when I finally got it to turn on again after connecting it to the outlet, played an alarm jingle. It sounded just like one of those vintage fire truck sirens. I’ll upload a video if I can get it recorded. Any clues as to what is causing this? UPDATE: I was able to get a video recording of the sound: https://youtu.be/o47STELaIfY
Alright, y’all, I figured it out. It was very dirty inside. When I mean dirty, there was a solid ball of lint shaking around in there. So first things first, you need to look inside and clean off all the dust. That fixed the issue of it shutting off when trying to play a song with headphones in. The alarm beeping was the old way of saying that the battery was low. Since it wasn’t holding a charge, a battery replacement fixed the issue. Finally, I upgraded the iPod to flash storage because it was more reliable and the hard drive was failing as well. Hope this helps for any future people stuck!
