I replaced the battery, but iPod still acts as before. Will not hold a charge and only starts when plugged into wall, after going through a cycle about 45 times. Whirs like it’s going to start, when apple appears, it clicks off after one second and starts whirring back to start…continues 45 to 47 times then finally boots up. I can see everything, play music..battery says fully charged very quickly but immediatly shuts down when unplugged. Which, by the way, this is how my problem started before I replaced battery. You can hear static when it reboots. The iPod died as I was listening to it, which was being charged at the time…it was almost as if something disconnected inside. Will not start when plugged into my Mac.
Janna Lookabaugh, it does sound like the charging circuit on the logic board is giving you trouble. “Will not hold a charge and only starts when plugged into wall,” does not sound like a HDD problem at all (of course anything is possible, but very highly unlikely:-) Use these guides to disassemble your iPod and take a close look at the battery connector. On this model, the connector has a tendency of breaking of the logic board. Ultimately, the error does originate from your logic board. Hope this helps, good luck.
