Hi all, My iPod Classic 160 gb is dead… This is what happened. I plugged it in on a stereosystem with a plug, “phone-to-red&white”. Thing was working beautiful but was running low on battery. So I tried to charge it on the same time, not usb but normal power (here 220V) with the usbjack (non original apple). It should be no problem but it caused a shortcircuit, all the lights and electronic devices went off, a power plug problem. Since then the iPod is dead. How to resolve this? Is it just the battery or is it totally gone? Thx for your answers!
It does sound like you may have gotten to much current on your iPod. I would start off by trying a reset, just in case. After that, get yourself a new battery to rule out that it is the circuit on the battery that causes you this problem. Lastly, if none of the previous worked, you may be looking into getting a new logic board. The step-by-step guides will show you how to disassemble and repair your iPod. Not a terribly difficult job, once you are past the first few steps, which are a true PITA. :-) good luck and let us know how it is going.
