Ipod Classic flashing apple logo, will not reset, will not enter disk mode, will not enter diagnostic mode. I’ve been having this problem for a couple of months. It started when I had my iPod playing normally, then when I looked at it to switch it off, it said it was charging even though it was not plugged in and would not respond to my attempts to switch it off. I left it playing in my bag and it ran out of battery. When I plugged it into the computer and tried to charge it, it would not work, the apple logo flashes randomly when I try to reset it [center and menu buttons], it does not reset. Nothing changes when I try to put it into diagnostic [center and skip back buttons] or disk mode [center and play buttons]. It will eventually stop flashing, and then when I try to reset it the same thing happens again. After waiting a very long time [over a week] It will ask to be connected for charging, I will charge it, and it will play just fine until I touch it, upon pressing any buttons it will immediately make a whirring noise and go back to the flashing apple logo. Please let me know what may be wrong with it and how I could fix it? Thank you PS: I have updated my iTunes software and when it was working, I did a factory reset through iTunes and re-synced everything, which did not correct the problem.
Jen, could be that it is your dock connector. Check with a new cable and check the pins. Make sure they are not bend or broken. If all that checks out, open up the iPod and take a look at all the connections. Make sure the cables are all inserted properly and at minimum invest in a new battery. Reevaluate from that point on.
do you hear any extrange sound ? , probe changing hard disk for a known good … and try again
