Hi, I’ve got an XS max with a non working ear speaker.  I resoldered a known working speaker on to the ear speaker/proximity sensor flex cable but still can’t get it working so it looks like a problem with the cable itself.  there looks to be a small chip on the cable. Is this responsible for the ear speaker working? And is it possible to replace it with a working one. I’ve attached a picture to show the part I’m talking about. thanks in advance edit: I should add that the cable itself does not appear damaged or ripped in any way. Also the previous owner said that they had the screen replaced by a third party.

I managed to fix this. De soldered the speaker and scraped off some of the plastic covering to expose the copper. Soldered the speaker back on and it’s working. So I guess the connection being made between the speaker and the flex wasn’t strong enough before.

This looks like the flood illuminator. It shouldn’t affect the speaker. More than likely you have damaged the assembly when soldering the new speaker. I would try another flex assembly to rule that out. If the new flex assembly provides sound you will need to transfer the original flood illuminator over to retain face ID.
