Due to an unfortunate canoe incident, my iPhone X sustained water damage - I opened it up and tried to dry it out, but to no avail. It’s currently stuck in a constantly rebooting cycle where the Apple logo appears for a second, then restarts. No success on doing a restore either. Screen appears to be intact. I had a full backup so no need to keep the phone. Question - is there any risk of selling the phone for parts with respect to the data on the phone? Because the phone doesn’t power up, I’m not able to wipe the device. It was password protected. Thanks in advance for your help.

No you shouldn’t have any issues selling the device if you have it iCloud locked. There is a very slim chance to fix the motherboard for long term use and it’s locked. So you should be fine selling it for parts

I think I’m unlucky or clumsy because it happened to me two times already to drop my phone in the water. I could sell them through without problems because all the parts were intact and the phones in good condition. Now I have another phone that I broke and I reach out to a guy to sell used phone but he’s offering me very little money, so I need other options. I’ve heard good things about https://www.gizmogrind.com but I have yet to see what they can offer. I’m glad I could make at least some money from those two phones because they weren’t cheap, so I think guys who do such things have some great earnings.
