Chosen Solution
Hi, I recently bought a iFixit screen replacement kit to change my iPhone X touchscreen. I followed the guide but when rebooting the iPhone, the screen lights up, but I can’t use it, it won’t respond to any gesture. Does someone have an idea how to solve this problem.
Could be a few things. Was touch functional with your old display before the repair? (assuming it was still functional enough to know). Is it still functional with your old display if you reinstall it? If touch still works with the old display, chances are it’s just a dud replacement. In which case, get in touch with iFixit’s customer support. If touch wasn’t working to begin with, or touch isn’t working now with the old display this is likely not a display problem, but a board problem which can still be repaired, but would require skills in microsoldering. Touch failure on the iPhone X is not an uncommon board issue after a heavy drop.
