Hey guys, got an iPhone X water damaged with 4013 error, ruled out common issues like the speaker flex and changed housing too. Same issue occurs. Phone doesn’t enter DFU mode, and gives me 4013 error on iTunes. I am suspecting a bad NAND Flash chip so i wanted to know how do I remove the nand? As I’ve never done a NAND fix on a Sandwich Layer Board. Do I seperate the two halves or straight away remove the chip? Because i’ve seen people where they do not seperate the board halves and remove the nand flash. Also if there could be any other issue someone can point me towards would be helpful.
You don’t have to split the board but be aware the CPU is underneath and the NAND will require more heat for its removal. If you have an iBox Mini you could test the NAND and reformat if necessary without removing it. I use it on the X after a bottom board swap to unbind the Wi-Fi from the NAND.
Error 4013 does typically point to a bad NAND if I’m not mistaken. Before you separate the layers, are you able to at least check the power and data lines that go to and from the NAND to make sure they aren’t shorted?
