My microphone wasn’t working so i decided to replace the charging port for a new one. After the replacement my microphone still wont work and the phone no longer charges. Should i buy another replacement or is there something i should check over to make sure it wasn’t my fault?

The microphone is probably faulty because of the well known Audio IC failure, a relatively common issue on the iPhone 7 series when they’re bumped or flexed. Unfortunately that’s not a DIY repair and I would recommend to avoid buying further parts until the Audio IC is fixed. If you still have the older dock and it wasn’t damaged during removal try it without istalling it, you may just have received a faulty replacement.
