A strange thing happened. My iPhone 5s, which has never given me any problems, suddenly turned off. When plugged into a wall charger, it was stuck in a loop. The Apple logo would come up for a couple seconds, then disappear briefly, and then come up again for a couple seconds, over and over again. I tried plugging it in to my computer, but at first iTunes wouldn’t even recognize it. I had to put it in DFU mode for it to be recognized. I tried to restore it with iTunes, but iTunes would say “Waiting for iPhone,” the iPhone. I would then end up getting an error, saying it couldn’t be recovered. (Error 4005) So, what’s going on, what can I do to fix this.

I fixed this on a 5S just the other day with a new battery. Seems they just give up when near dead and that is the 4005 error and the constant restarting. After new battery, boot it up and immediately reset the phone again (home and power buttons until logo appears). Hope this helps, Mike

Mine had 4005 and turned out it was the NAND chip, but this would be last case scenario.
