My iPhone 6s screen got destroyed when it fell off the hood of truck. The phone itself was still working, I could still hear the music playing, the phone will vibrate or ring if I get a text or call but the screen was busted. I got a new screen digitizer assembly, installed it, but its still not working. I’ve done it all before, replaced screens, batteries, headphone/charging ports so this screen replacement was no different. I just don’t understand what is wrong with my phone. I know the new screen is not defective by trying my neighbors iPhone 6s screen on my phone and it still didn’t work. Anyone know whats going on? Update (03/11/2018) Additionally, I did notice the proximity sensor cable was broken, could that be the issue?
If you did a screen replacement with the battery still connected, chances are the backlight circuit is blown. Very easy for it to happen on this particular model due to how the LCD connector has the negative and power pins right next to each other. Anyway to diagnose this issue unplug the battery, plug it back in, turn phone on. Look for apple logo with flashlight on screen. If you see dim apple logo, it means your phone has display but no backlight. To get that fixed you will need to take it to someone that does micro-soldering / board-level repairs (reputable repair shops). Probably going to cost you around $150.
