Ok, this problem is now becoming quite a nuisance for me now, I do hope someone out there can help me. My iPhone 5s (Gold, A1530 64GB) is not turning on, I have tried numerous methods to recover it, I left it in to charge for a few hours, nothing, I put it into DFU mode and connected it to iTunes, every time I attempt to restore it it boots up with a white apple and black background (which is strange as it is not space grey) eventually after “waiting for iPhone” it gives me “error 4005.” I made sure “port 80” was open on my Mac, I made sure my internet connection was good, I have the latest version of iTunes and I checked my hosts…. nothing. I then decided to download Dr Fone Wondershare to fix the system but that did not work either. I am 100% sure it’s a hardware issue as I even tried to restore the phone without the LCD and screen connected, I replaced the battery and the dock connector and it still would not work oh yes and I tried it with numerous USB cables and numerous computers (macs and windows) I don’t think it’s the proximity sensor as the apple logo display is perfect. I am now left with the conclusion that the compass IC is damaged and needs replacing. I hope that this is repairable, all help from anyone will be appreciated.
Error 4005 sounds like bad NAND. This is unlikely due to a cold joint under NAND and more likely that the NAND has failed. Replacing the logic board entirely will certainly be the fastest way to a functional phone. Otherwise, since the NAND is programmed to the board you’d have to desolder it, read it, use a device from China to copy serial number to a new NAND–cost of the chip itself is $50-$100 in July 2017 and then solder new NAND to the board.
Ok, so error 4005 is usually an issue with a cold solder joint on the nand. I hate the landfill and all. But is it worth it for you to have a board repair specialist to reball the chip? I do it for about $90 and iPad Rehab does it for about ..I think $200
